Strada History
A dynamic family business

Founded by William Woodcock in 1850, the family business was initially focused on real estate. From its origins in the farming sector, by the 1950s ‘Woodcock Estates’ specialised in high-end residential sales in and around Hampstead. In the early 1980s, the company saw the potential of the kitchen manufacturing market and this became its focus. As a result, the Woodcock family became specialists in kitchen hardware and soon took the opportunity to diversify into all types of household ironmongery. The business concentrated on this sector and, through a thriving trade counter in Colliers Wood, began to serve larger construction projects. This growth ultimately led to the company rebranding as Strada in 1981 and, with booming sales in architectural hardware, the business no longer offered kitchens by the mid 1990s. Still a partnership today, the business is now in the hands of the current generation of Woodcocks – Chris and Roz, supported by their three sons and other members of the family.
